Day Seven: To Dallas

Good Morning!

I wanted to update last night, but I pretty much passed out after my shower last night. Tim was nice enough to do all the laundry and post a quick update while I slept. Isn't he wonderful?

On our way to Little Rock, we passed through a very intense storm cell. It was really severe lightning and rain, and of course I WAS DRIVING! It was an experience that I will not soon forget. Tim even put the laptop away so he could witness this once in a lifetime occurrence.

So, I have something pretty exciting to share with you! Last night we stopped into a Comfort Inn past Little Rock, just to see how much it would be. We thought that a break from motels would be nice if the price wasn't too bad. At first it looked like the Comfort Inn was going to be too expensive (over $75 plus tax!) but there was an America's Best Value Motel across the street. We told the guy that we were going to go check out their price, and he immediately offered us a room for $68 including tax! We were astonished, but we still wanted to check out the Motel's price. When we got there we told the lady at the counter that the Comfort Inn had offered us a room for $68 dollars, and she offered us one of theirs for just $55! We were very tempted, but we thought that if we could get the same rate at the Comfort, we would rather stay there. So back across the street we went and told the guy that if he would give us a room for $55 we would stay. He told us to hang on while he called his manager, who said to give it to us! Of course, they charged us tax on the $55, which brought it back up to $60 (tax is so expensive out here!) but we basically got over $15 off the original price!!! Let me tell you, we are definitely going to be negotiating like that from now on.

Anyway, like Tim told you last night, we are going to be driving to Dallas today. I'm first up to drive since I had the most sleep. It's a 4 and a half hour drive and I want to drive as close to 4 hours as possible as a reward to Tim for staying up and doing laundry. Maybe he can give you a quick update when we know more about what we are going to do in Dallas!
