Day Fourteen: Nevada... yeah...

Hi...

This is not a happy post. Tim and I got to California and we were so happy! Then we got to this search station where they search EVERY car... over 100 miles into the state! They saw the cage in our back seat and asked what kind of animal we had. We told them the truth, our sugar gliders, which they then told us were illegal in California. They literally confiscated them until they got all our information, and told us that we were not allowed any further into the state with them. When they took them out of our car and carried them into their office I felt just like Dorothy when Miss Gulch took away Toto. I mean, they were as nice as possible about all of this, but it was pretty scary, and a major, major let down. We had no idea they were so strict, and at that point, no idea what we were going to do now!

So, now Tim and I are still in Nevada, driving up to Oregon to see my Uncle Kirk and Aunt Linda. They have been so kind in having us stay with them for a night and keeping an eye on the gliders so that we can have a couple of days in California. I am happy that we will get to see them, and I feel so lucky to have them out here! We should be there some time tomorrow, if we drive all day today. Better get a move on.

Love from Beatty, NV (Near Death Vally)!
